Consequences of Fake News

by: Christy Marion, PR & AR Specialist

Hello, lover. It’s that time of year again. Valentine’s Day is a perfect opportunity for brands to seduce their customers with sweet campaign ideas, throwing all shades of red, pink and enticing deals your way. Whether you are single, married, casually-but-seriously dating or have a mutual understanding with your cat, we think you should have some options when celebrating this marvelous (eh, debatable) day.

Here are some of our favorite brand campaigns to make for a fun Valentine’s Day no matter what your status.

1. #StarbucksDate

Being avid Starbucks goers at Media Frenzy, this was our favorite. Starbucks has once again created a genius campaign to draw customers in for their favorite coffee and pastry. They are calling it the largest “Starbucks Date” and have partnered with Match dating site where users on their mobile site can choose the option to “Meet at Starbucks.” What could be better than sharing an awkward first encounter with a stranger over a mocha frap?

2. Red Velvet Oreos

So you aren’t into dating and prefer to hang with a box of cookies instead. No problem. Oreos have come up with a new Red Velvet flavor this Valentine’s Day and while it might seem a bit weird, we are going to give this one the benefit of the doubt because well, red velvet.

3. #PutYourHeartToPaper

Go buy a Hallmark card and write down your feelings just because this campaign is AMAZING. Hallmark put a spotlight on a few couples for the “Put Your Heart to Paper” campaign showing how they first met and what makes their relationship great. If you haven’t seen it yet, channel your inner sap for a couple minutes and watch it here.

Of course these are just a few, but these examples can teach us a lot about brand loyalty. To keep any relationship going, there is a need to continually keep your significant other engaged, excited, inspired and dedicated. See what we did there?

Companies have the power to accomplish this if they are able to understand their audience and what resonates most with them.

Happy Valentine’s Day from the Frenzy.
