It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s…Media Frenzy!
Last Tuesday, Media Frenzy suited up for our monthly company outing and trekked through the rain to IFly Atlanta for indoor skydiving. What a rush! When we walked in, we were treated to an “air show” show from one of the instructors. Well versed in indoor skydiving, he flew around the indoor wind tunnel at lightning speeds, flipping, whirling and sparking debates within our team over whose crazy idea this was! Our pre-flight emotions ranged from “I’m so pumped!” to “I’m going to cry!” but we’re satisfied to say everyone flew high and proud (although some of us needed a little more encouraging than others). Our group had so much fun cheering each other on as we flew up, down, and all around the wind tunnel. The team highlight had to be when our PR Coordinator, Armando, provided us with lots of laughs and screams as he got the hang of flying! Indoor skydiving was a unique experience. We walked away with crazy hair, pumping hearts, and great memories. We posed for pictures in our flight suits and headed down the road to Grub Burger Bar for some much-needed food, drinks, and conversation to end our adventure-filled afternoon. Another highlight—those burgers, yum!
The next day, looking back at our action shots and videos together was almost as much fun as flying! Here at Media Frenzy, creating and maintaining strong relationships is a priority, not only with our clients but our team members as well. It’s important to always have a firm unit supporting and cheering you on, especially when you’re getting ready to fly. Media Frenzy brings together a mixture of different individuals with various backgrounds, personalities, hopes, and dreams. Embracing our differences and taking the time to get to know each other on a personal level results in more than just sociable co-worker relationships, it creates cherished friendships. It definitely brought the term team meeting to new heights.
Here’s what our team had to say about our mid-week adventure:
“Laughter really is the best medicine! There’s something about being in a silly flight suit laying flat in the wind in front of all your peers that really brings the team together. I loved how we came together to have fun with each other outside of a work environment, and could relax and enjoy time together as individuals. “
– Sarah Tourville, CEO
“Indoor skydiving was a super fun and creative company outing. I loved seeing my fellow MFGers shaking in their boots and then overcoming their fears with the support of everyone cheering each other on. It was a great bonding moment.”
– Katie Kern, VP of Marketing and Public Relations
“I’ve always wanted to skydive so doing this with the team was the next best thing. At first, I honestly thought about running out of the building and to my car because I was fearful. HOWEVER, I didn’t. I have to always tell myself there is something great on the other side of your fears.”
– Tawanda Carlton, Junior Account Executive
“When you think of a company outing, indoor skydiving isn’t the first thing that comes to mind! Despite all my nerves, I had the best time. We’re a melting pot of personalities, and as a team we genuinely enjoy each other’s company. We’re more than co-workers, we’re friends too. For that, I’m proud.”
– Arielle Bulls, Social Media and Digital Marketing Intern
“Our team building exercise brought us together through conquering our fears. Some of us were terrified by the thought of indoor skydiving, but by coming together as a team, we were able to get through it and have a lot of fun in the process! The indoor skydiving event showed us that as a group there is nothing we can’t do and we should never be afraid of the unknown, but embrace it and take it as it comes, together.”
– Ashley McKinney, Marketing Coordinator
“By far the most exhilarating and adrenaline-fueled experience of my life! It will take you high in the sky, but with a mouth oh so very dry if you open it to yell. #AfraidOfHeights”
– Armando Maya, PR Coordinator
“You learn a lot about a person when they are literally thrown into a thrilling situation. It was great to get know each other better and to continue to strengthen our team collaboration.”
– Jessica Newland, Senior Marketing Manager
“Indoor Skydiving with my Media Frenzy team members was an exhilarating experience that I will never forget. Seeing my team overcome their fears was certainly a bonding experience. I’m happy to have been able to experience personal growth with them and to have fun while doing it.”
– Abby Watkins, Public Relations Intern
“Indoor skydiving was such a great way for our company to bond outside of our normal, everyday work environment. I’ve always wanted to go skydiving, and indoor skydiving did not disappoint! I love how supportive our team is and walked away feeling like I had a greater appreciation for everyone.”
